Creators: André Aciman
directed by: Luca Guadagnino
2017

Brief: CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, the new film by Luca Guadagnino, is a sensual and transcendent tale of first love, based on the acclaimed novel by André Aciman. It's the summer of 1983 in the north of Italy, and Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), a precocious 17-year-old young man, spends his days in his family's 17th-century villa transcribing and playing classical music, reading, and flirting with his friend Marzia (Esther Garrel). Elio enjoys a close relationship with his father (Michael Stuhlbarg), an eminent professor specializing in Greco-Roman culture, and his mother Annella (Amira Casar), a translator, who favor him with the fruits of high culture in a setting that overflows with natural delights. While Elio's sophistication and intellectual gifts suggest he is already a fully-fledged adult, there is much that yet remains innocent and unformed about him, particularly about matters of the heart. One day, Oliver (Armie Hammer), a 24-year-old American college graduate student working on his doctorate, arrives as the annual summer intern tasked with helping Elio's father. Amid the sun-drenched splendor of the setting, Elio and Oliver discover the heady beauty of awakening desire over the course of a summer that will alter their lives forever

Drink everytime a scene makes you cry. We would all end up drunk. Call Me by Your Name Watch streams. This is my ALL TIME favorite scene, from any movie, book, etc. i dont know what it is but something about this scene keeps me up for hours at night just thinking about it. So wait, when Elio says “I suppose youre getting married” is he just kidding or is he saying it actually expecting him to have called to say hes getting married. Me and my boyfriend watched this movie. When I say ‘watched we only make it half way through and. well. .

Like Brokeback Mountain, this devastatingly sensuous romance features two people who meet and fall in love despite the risks of their relationship in a society that frowns upon such same-sex attraction. Elio and Oliver have a brief but powerful relationship that is still conflicted and messy. Oliver is not necessarily gay, but finds himself attracted to Elio anyway; Elio is trying to figure out what he wants and who he is.
Elio's parents are well played by Amira Casar and Michael Stuhlbarg, who gives one of the most punch-to-the-gut monologues in recent years during the final moments of the film. Both suspect and even encourage the relationship of their son as he explores his way into adulthood. Casar's performance is particularly understated, all knowing glances and hidden messages. She knows a lot more than the other characters believe she does. Stuhlbarg deserved an Oscar nomination for his portrayal as Elio's father, but he was sadly overlooked. He is excellent throughout, but his final scene with Elio is so well acted and filled with love, I felt like a raw nerve had suddenly become exposed inside of me, and Stuhlbarg had just strummed it like a guitar.
Armie Hammer gives a great performance as the brashy American who first upsets the apple (peach? cart with his mannerisms and more aggressive personality. While physically he seems too old for the role (sparking some unnecessary controversy over the age gap between the two characters) he has a natural chemistry with Chalamet that is riveting. The two of them have to navigate a complex array of emotions with personality clashes and mockery slowly melting into attraction and love.
But this is Timothee Chalamet's film, and the young actor gives one of the most authentic performances I've seen in years. There isn't a moment that suggests he's just acting. While Elio is hardly a flashy character, that makes what Chalamet pulls off even more astonishing. He is the heart of this film, and the final scene as he stares into a fire should not be missed. It is powerful, endearing, emotional, and every bit worth the Oscar nomination he received (and probably should have won in all honesty.
This film is a heart-wrenching portrayal of new love, the difficulty of communication even in a multi-lingual world, all overshadowed with the inevitability of knowing it must come to an end. The best film I saw from 2017.

This film is absolutely incredible. My favourite movie of all time. Harry did an amazing job. Im so proud of him. Call me by your name watch stream reddit. Ok but I am all for how normalized this gay movie is. I am sure it is getting tons of backlash but I have not seen any yet and I love it. Its so great to see a movie revolving around gay main characters without it being considered out of the ordinary. Just a regular love story.

The piano in the background just adds that extra emotion I love it. When Elio says Elio? Elio Elio Elio it's like he's begging Do you remember the time we had together? member remember remember.

Absolutely riveting and horrifying. The best war movie I have ever seen

This movie is depffinatley one of my favorites, the movie was realistic. I'm sick of people whining that the movie doesn't focus on character development. Ask yourselves this, if people are in a real war zone, and bombs are flying off and bullets are spraying everywhere, do you think two mates are gonna be like Hey my name is George. Other guy Wow my name is George, we have something in common. No REALISTICALLY they would be doing everything they could to keep their lives alive. This movie is beautiful cineamatically and keeps me at the edge of my seat, as we follow these peoples lives. It is as if you are there right next to them. For the naysayers who complain that the movie doesn't have enough gun fights, and explosions, and good character development need to realize this movie is meant to be realistic, not fantasy. If you enjoy movies that have realism in it, and will keep you at the edge of your seat in some scenes, then this movie is for you. If you are looking for a brainless action flick, that has explosions, and more explosions, on top of more MICHAEL BAY EXPLOSIONS. With character development, with unrealistic standards, then this movie will not be the movie for you.

To reiterate: What the actual fuck? I literally cannot understand why this is nominated for Oscars and not for Golden Raspberries. I'm not even going to say anything about the peach scene. If you want to have the urge to gouge your eyes out, just google it. But I warn you, if you don't want lasting psychological trauma, please take my advice and never watch this movie. This isn't about whether I support gays or not. This is about the fact that the main character put his head into another guy's underwear (without his consent or knowledge) and humped the air. You know what? I'll tell you about the peach scene. The peach scene is the scene in which the main character makes a hole in a peach and. masturbates. into it. Later the other guy tries to eat the peach, but thankfully the MC stops him.
Please, I'm doing this for your own good, just DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE.

Those parents are the best. The fact that their heart breaks when their child feels heartbreak for the first time is love. This is the best war movie I've ever seen. We shall fight on the beaches. We shall fight on the landing grounds. We shall never surrender. At first I didn't understand this scene, I didn't pay close attention to it, now that I'm re-watching I come to the realisation that this scene is a masterpiece (like the movie itself) Elio declaring his love to Oliver without even saying really saying it. This scene is so simple yet so complicated and I think that's what I like about it. God, this movie is amazing.

Call me by your name watch streaming. Clip says it's a minute and 35seconds. Yt must be drunk cuz it took me more than 5mins to finish this clip. Call Me by Your Name Watch. I can't believe people are confused by this scene. He is basically telling Oliver he is a virgin and doesn't know much about sex/love, Oliver is taken a back by what he says, then Helio says I thought you should know, I wanted you to know which is basically saying he has the hots for Oliver and wants him to take his virginity. Oliver than asks for confirmation of it and says that's not something he can talk about.

I love how the music starts playing Everytime Oliver leaves or when they're apart in this scene. Call me by your name watch now. I love how Armie Hammer looks like he could be such a douch but he IS THE Most Open Chill Guy Out there HEs VERY HUMBLE GUY.

The elio elio elio elio oliver. i remember everything has me in tears everytime

WHY THEY ARE SO CUTEEEE. I find it amazing how Timothée, as a straight man, can still nail every single scene in this movie. “god we wasted so many days” my heart broke. I always feel so embarrassed when I watched them, like this love is one of a kind & too private & pure to be shared. They did an amazing job. As an American Veteran, I must say I can and do respect the English in their stand at Dunkirk and other beaches. Many Americans do not appreciate the sacrifice that the English have made for their country and America. This is before FDR finally enacted war upon Japan / Nihon, Nipon or Nippon - for the idiots) and Germany/ Deutschland, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. FDR had to be forced into it before making the decision, he was a Progressive and Pacifist, but he finally had to. Then our American citizen soldiers came to support the British and the rest of Europe. Unfortunately too late for many of them. Sadly for American citizens, it has never ended since then, because of the military / business machine. Our new President should make it stop, and allow the other nations to defend themselves, re-create their militaries. When there may be a time we Americans may need them, perhaps they will answer our call to arms. Such honor that the British had/have, suffered, and died for is no longer appreciated by many, but there are still those that remember. I really appreciate the Brits, and acknowledge their heroism and fortitude. For those that have served in Britain, I salute you. Thank God you still serve! To my American brothers, keep in mind that they served before we did in the great wars, honor and cherish the sacrifices they have made. Again, thank you cousins from across the pond. An American Soldier/Warrior Veteran.
